John Rosi
"BIG JOHN"
July 10, 1930

My partner in life, my partner for eternity
Many of the newer people didn't know John, he had stopped going to the shows. Not because he was any less involved with every aspect of the dogs, but, because he had felt the changes in the people attitudes today were not healthy for the sport.
When we made the decision to start Terra Neva Siberians John devoted hours, upon hours learning all he could about this sport. He would go and watch every breed and try and learn about them. You never knew were John would be sitting watching a breed, these in the days when we did 30 weeks a year at shows, staying from morning to BIS. Ray Scott use to tell Ginger and I that John would end up being a better dog person, because he did study the breeds so thoroughly. I believe Ray was right, certainly when we made decisions on puppies he could point out things I may have over looked.
He was the Junior Showmanship mascot. All the Juniors knew and loved John, in fact, many of today's East Coast professional handlers were juniors John watched and encouraged. He never missed a Junior ring time, how could he.. they all made sure he knew what ring they were in and the time. But, of course...they may have done that because of the "goods" John was sure to share with them after the judging....I'll let some of them fill you in on what that was..LOL
Everyone who knew him, knew that all though he was 6 foot 5 1/2 inches tall he was the most gentle man to walk this earth. His heart was bigger than his frame and he showed that to one and all.
His contributions to Dog activities were freely given and most had no idea that he had even given to them, and, that continued even when he had become less involved in the fancy.
I don't know what is in the future for Terra Neva, but, I do know that it shall never be the same now that my Partner is no longer here for me and the dogs.
If you would like to make a remembrance in his Name to either of these wonderful organizations please do, he and I would both appreciate it. Donations can be made to the SHCA Rescue or to the Hospice of the Upstate 1835 Rogers Rd Anderson, SC 29621-2278.
